You can make dinosaur brushes, plant brushes, bug brushes... let your imagination roam.

Cheeno

This week's assignment will be to an actual illustration assignment I had from a while back. I will attach the story. The image size is 14 x 10 landscape format @200 dpi. I would like you to work up the illustration in full black and white to figure out the values, then finish in color by glazing transparent color over the top.  I do this is by using a multiply and overlay layer over the top of your black and white underpainting and adding hue. Once the color is established, flatten down and paint opaquely on top. You will need to research Environments, wigwams, clothing style for the time period and anything else you can think of to make this authentic. Get creative with the Cheeno or he will feel disrespected and we don't want that.

stained glass

This assignment will be to make a painting that resembles stained glass by using the line tool for the lead and bright colored panels for the glass. Pick a scene from your favorite disney movie and illustrate it. We will add texture to the glass to give it a unique finish.

Keep your design simple.

Here are some examples from my last class.

Oct 3 Assignment

Mark Summers:

Here is a video I found on Vimeo: http://vimeo.com/10739119- it doesn't really have any information about HOW he creates his art; but it does zoom in pretty close so you can see what kind of stroke patterns he uses.

Cheers all.
